International Communications

As the chief communicator supporting the Dean for International Studies and Program, I led the development of websites, talking points, marketing material and impact story telling for 25 international units. Known worldwide as a top research university, I helped renowned scholars and scientists from around the globe communicate their impact and generate external funding through their thought leadership and grant writing. I also helped engage the greater Spartan community in international community building efforts including an annual festival and photo competition.

An international photo competition engaged alumni, students and faculty and and helped tell important stories.

Thought Leadership.

With more than 50 years of engagement with Africa and more than 160 faculty currently working on projects with African partners, Michigan State University has developed a rich reservoir of knowledge and experience on the continent. To advance thought leadership on food security and five megatrends observed by our researchers, I was asked to promote academic conference to convened world experts at MSU and write a position paper for the 2012 G20 Mexico Summit, titled Africa’s Shifting Landscape.

Student Recruitment.

In 2011, MSU launched, American Semester, a study abroad program targeting European students who often study abroad for a single semester and look for programs that transfer credits into their degree programs back home. I developed the first American Semester campaign, which included a website, video and print material. The program reached its enrollment targets by year two.
